Copper Crow Executive Chef Seth “J.R.” Gordon
Albany, New York – Wednesday, May 14 - The Copper Crow, an approachable upscale restaurant located in the historic Andrew Kirk Brewery building in Albany’s popular warehouse district, today announced that Seth “J.R.” Gordon has joined the team as their new Executive Chef. An alumni of the prestigious International Culinary Center (originally known as the French Culinary Institute) in New York City and a prior contestant and runner up on CHOPPED Season 17, Episode 7, the classically trained chef brings with him considerable technical expertise, substantial fine dining experience, and a demonstrated passion for exceptionally well prepared and presented cuisine.
“We are excited to welcome Seth to our team,” states owner Jason Pierce. “His formal French culinary education, considerable technical skill, creativity, and unbridled passion & enthusiasm for food, will help to further enhance the dining experience at the Copper Crow and further our mission to deliver fun, exciting, fusion flavors and dishes to our customers”
Prior to joining the team at The Copper Crow, Chef Gordon worked as a private chef for prominent clients in New York City, Florida and at various international estates. Notably he served as the private chef for Doris Hurley, daughter of the Haagen-Dazs founders, and her husband Kevin Hurley at their 12,000+ square foot waterfront estate in Boca Raton, Florida where he would provide daily meals and handle all the couples entertainment needs for events and dinner parties. He also served as private chef for Peter Kalikow, a past owner and publisher of the New York Post, former chairman of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and current president of H. J. Kalikow & Company, a New York based real estate company.
Prior to his recent work as a private chef Gordon served as Sous Chef at the critically acclaimed Le Cirque restaurant. Established over 40 years ago, the 16,000 square foot Le Cirque is considered by many to be one of the finest restaurants in the world and offers guests what can only be described as an unparalleled dining experience.
“I'm only as good as my last dish,” states Chef Seth Gordon, who goes on to add “When the food lands on the table, in front of a hungry customer, I want it to be an experience. No matter how simple or elegant the dish might be, I want them to see the passion and dedication, and as they take that first bite, to know that I put my soul into that dish.”
Founding chef Timothy Gates continues to stay on board to help prep the restaurant’s dishes, share recipes and work with the new Executive chef. Owner Jason Pierce and Chef Gates collaborated to establish the restaurant’s culinary program and goals and worked together to develop the current menu.
“Our vision and concept remain the same,” states owner Jason Pierce, who goes on to add, “but we fully expect Chef Gordon to make his mark on the menu by developing new and exciting dishes and concepts, and further refining our eclectic menu of internationally influenced dishes.”
