Hauntings at the copper crow

The Copper Crow is haunted by at least two spirits and there are a multitude of strange occurrences and experiences that have been relayed to the current owners by various people associated with the different businesses that have occupied the space over the course of the 190 or so years.

Based on their own experiences, and the stories of others, the current owners began to delve into the history of the building in the spring of 2021. While conducting initial research two local historians were able to locate a 19th century newspaper account that told the story of a young child who had sadly drowned while playing with a sibling in a cistern on the property. One of the spirits is believed to be that of this child, who likes to frequently & playfully make his presence known by knocking objects off the bar.

The second spirit is believed to be that of a night watchman that was stationed on the South side of the building towards far end of the building during the late 19th century. Those working in the building alone have reported hearing his voice, hearing footsteps “patrolling” the second floor.

Particularly “active” spots in the building include the second floor above the bar, the bar area itself, the server station which is located at the bottom of an old 19th century staircase to the second floor, the location adjacent to the old watchman’s station and the office.

The current owners continue to actively investigate the hauntings. If you’ve had an experience of any kind in the building please contact them at info@coppercrowalbany.com.
